call the number: n. ten times the sum of half a number and 6 = n/2 + 6
=> 10 x (n/2 +6) = 8
=> n/2 + 6 = 8 : 10
n/2 = 0.8 - 6
n/2 = -5.2
n= -5.2 x 2
n= -10.4
