Problem:
5/12 + 3/8

I would first make like denominators by making them both 24 (on the bottom)

You can do this by multiping 5/12 by 2 and 3/8 by 3.

Making the new equation 10/24 + 9/24

Now add them together and simplify if you can

35/40 but then you need to round it down which will be 7/8
