What role(s) does the small intestine play in the digestive system?

The small intestine is there for digestion of fats carbs and other things like that

The small intestine digests fats, proteins, carbohydrates and more from the food you consume. The nutrients produced are absorbed by the lining of the intestine and transferred to the bloodstream.
