x² - 7 x = - 5
x² - 7 x + 5 = 0
The standard form is : ax² + b x + c = 0
a = 1; b = -7; c = 5
x 1/2 = (-b+/- √(b²-4 ac) / 2a
x 1/2 = (7+/-√49 - 20) / 2 = ( 7 +/-√29 ) / 2
Answer: B ) 7 plus or minus the square root of 29 divided by two.
