A mutation in gamete is known as a germline mutation. It is heritable variation in the lineage of germ cells which give rise to the gametes, so a mutation in germ cell and gametes will be seen in an egg cell (female's gamete) or sperm cells (male's gamete) but not in a body cell. If present in the gametes, after fertilization, the mutation will be present in formed zygote.
