An improper fraction is when the numerator(or top number) of a fraction is bigger than the denominator(bottom half of the fraction).

To solve this;
1 2/3 we multiply our denominator by the whole number and add the numerator.
1x3=3+2=5

Now, the improper fraction:
5/3
