Distribute the 3 to get
4x + 2 = 3x-18+8 Then add like terms
4x + 2 = 3x - 10 Now move all x terms to one side by subtracting 3x from both sides
x + 2 = -10. Solve by subtracting 2 from both sides
x = -12
