Answer: 63 pounds

Explanation:

Let x be the weight of Oxana dog, then the weight of Evans dog will be 7x.

Also, together the dogs weigh 72 pounds.

Then, we have


x+7x=72\\\\\Rightarrow\ 8x=72

Divide 8 on both the sides , we get


x=9

Therefore, the weight of Oxana dog = 9 pounds

And the weight of Evans dog = 7(9)=63 pounds

Evan's Dog (variable x) Oxana's Dog (variable X)

7x + X= 72

Evan's Dog weighs 63 lbs.

There are 8 variables on one side so I divided the 72 lbs by the variables and got 9 lbs for one variable. So then I plugged in 9 for each x. So you would've gotten 7(9) +(9) =72 and then Evan's dog would be 7(9) and that would equal out to be 63 lbs.
