What are some things that make the theory of continental drift difficult to accept

Most people argued against the continental drift theory claiming that it was impossible for them to move at such a pace as was proposed by scientists. The second thing and the most problematic was the lack of force that could move them, since there was nothing strong enough to move them so far away.
