the given expressions are,

12x + 2y = 16 ...... (1)

16x - 10y = 15 ........(2)

multiply the equation (1) by 5

60x + 10y = 80

16x - 10y = 15

add both the equations,

60x + 16 x + 10y - 10y = 80 + 15

76x = 95

x = 95/76

divide numerator and denominator by 19

x = 5/4

x = 1.25

put x = 5/4

in equation (1)

12(5/4) + 2y = 16

2y = 16 - 15

2y = 1

y = 1/2

y = 0.5

thus, the answer is

x = 5/4 or 1.25

y = 1/2 or 0.5
