Answer:

There are
18 students

Explanation:

This problem is a word problem which bothers on the fractions and mixed fraction

We can solve this problem by first converting all mixed fraction to proper fraction

converting
22(1)/(2) cups to proper fraction we have
(25)/(2)

converting
1(1)/(4) cups to proper fraction we have
(5)/(4)

Given data

number of cups =
(45)/(2) cups

number of cups to be received per student =
(5)/(4) cups

To calculate the number of students we have to divide the number of cups by the number of cups received per student we have

= ((45)/(2) )/((5)/(4) ) \\= (45)/(2) *(4)/(5) = 9*2\\\\= 18
