factor each by practice

5x^2+30x+40
(5)(x^2+6x+8)
(5)(x+4)(x+2)

x^2+2x-24
(x-4)(x+6)

so

(5)(x+4)(x+2) and (x-4)(x+6)

no common binomial factor

You can factor the first equation into
(5x + 10)(x+4)

The second one:
(x+4)(x-6)

So the common factor is (x+4)
