A common resistance of carbon resistors is 33 ΩΩ. How many 33 ΩΩ resistor, connected in parallel, are needed to give a total resistance of 5.5 ΩΩ?

Let n be the required number of 33 ohm resistors.

n*((1)/(33))=(1)/(5.)

n=(33)/(5.5)=6
The required number of 33 ohm resistors in parallel is 6 resistors.

Answer:

6 resistors.

Explanation:

Common resistance of carbon resistors has been given as 3 Ω

When resistors added in parallel connection total resistance is given by the expression

(1)/(R) =
(1)/(R_1) +
(1)/(R_2)...........
(1)/(R_n)

If n resistors have been added then
(1)/(R) =
(n)/(r)

here r = 3Ω and R = (0.5)Ω

(n)/(3)=
(1)/(0.5)

n =
(3)/(0.5) = 6 resistors.
