x = 1.5 times (150-x)

x = 225 -1.5x

2.5 x = 225

x= 90

The more expensive book was $90

Check your answer:

x = 1.5 times (150-x)

90 = 1.5 times (150-90)

90 = 1.5 x60

90=90
