So here we have the rational expressions, which we're going to substract:

(x-1)/(x+1)-(2x+3)/(2x+1)

We're going to substract them as fractions:

((x-1)(2x+1)-(x+1)(2x+3))/((x+1)(2x+1))

And then distribute:

\begin{gathered} (2x^2+x-2x-1-(2x^2+3x+2x+3))/(2x^2+3x+1) \\ \\ (2x^2-x-1-2x^2-5x-3)/(2x^2+3x+1) \\ \\ (-6x-4)/(2x^2+3x+1) \\ \end{gathered}

So that's the answer.

The numerator is -6x-4

The denominator is 2x^2+3x+1
