The correct answer is True.

The development of the transcontinental railroad allowed for citizens to travel to different states that they would have never been able to travel to before. This is due to the fact that traveling by walking or horse drawn carriage takes significantly longer than taking a train.

Along with this, time zones were a necessity in order for trains to have a set schedule. This standardized form of time allowed passengers and train operators alike to understand when trains were going to arrive/leave a specific location.
