The Executive Branch is given the power to carry out the laws. It has the following checks over the Legislative Branch: Veto power, ability to call special sessions of Congress, can recommend legislation, can appeal to the people concerning legislation and can issue executive orders regarding important issues. Hope this helps :)

The Executive Branch has several powers through the checks and balances systems such as the power to propose laws, recommend legislation, call special sessions of Congress, to nominate judges, to veto congressional legislation and grant reprieves and pardons.
