you first round both numbers when estimating. the 189 would round to 200 and the 643 would round to 600. then you just simply subtract them both which is 400.

To estimate an answer to this problem, you must first estimate the numbers as well. 189 would round to 190, and 643 would round to 640. Now you would subtract 190 from 640, giving you 460.
