You just bought an aquarium for your fish, which is 39.75 inches wide and 11.375 inches deep. The salesman told you to keep the water 2 inches from the top of the tank so the filter to works properly. If the tank is 14 inches high, how many cubic inches of water will it contain once it's filled? A. 5,426 in³B. 5,552 in³C. 4,688 in³D. 5,087 in³

From the question we have the following information

Length of aquarium = 39.75 inches

width of aquarium = 11.375 inches

Height of aquarium = 14 inches

But the salesman said the should be 2 inches from the top

Hence

height of water in the aquairum = (14 - 2) inches

= 12 inches

To find the volume of water in aquarium we will use

\text{Volume =LWH}

where

Length of water in aquarium(L) = 39.75 inches

Width of water in aquarium(W) = 11.375 inches

Height of water in aquarium(H) = 12 inches

Therefore volume of water V is

\begin{gathered} V=39.75in*11.375in+12in \\ V=5425.8in^{3^{}} \\ V=5426in^3 \end{gathered}

Therefore the volume of water inthe aquarium will be 5426 cubic inches
