Answer: d. 8 inches

Explanation:

Given: The area of triangle = 40 sq. inches

The base of the triangle = 10 inches

Let h be the height of the triangle.

The area of a triangle is given by :-

\text{Area}=(1)/(2)* base* height\\\\\Rightarrow\ 40=(1)/(2)*10* h\\\\\Rightzarrow\ h=(40)/(5)=8\\\\\Rightarrow\ h=8\ inches

Hence, the height of the triangle = 8 inches
