The belief that spirits fill the natural world is known as animism. The meaning of animism: The attribution of a living soul to plants, inanimate objects, and natural phenomena. The belief in a supernatural power that organizes and animates the material universe.
So technically it means that they believe in ghosts and what not, or something/someone with great power :)
