Well, the biggest problem would be when it was first conceived, there was no way to detect it
According to the theory, as universe expand, the space between universe expand as well, which making it impossible to travel from one universe to another

What was one of the problems with the theory of inflation and the multiverse when it was first conceived?

Answer: First we have to understand that inflation is the theory that describes the exponential growth or expansion of space in our early universe. And the multiverse theory is that there are many universes with ours at the center and it so happens that it developed in such a way that supports life. The problem with with both of his theories is that they cannot be detected. Also as the space keeps expanding the distance between the many universes will also grow making impossible to interact with each other.
