area equal 99 in square and given that the length of rectangle is 2 in longer than the width so l = w+2

l*w=99

(w+2)*w = 99

w^2 +2w =99

w^2 +2w -99 = 0

D = 4 -4*(-99) = 4+396 = 400

w_1,2 = (-2+/- sqrt400)/2 = (-2+/- 20)/2

w_1,2 = -11 and 9

so bc. a length not can being minus so this mean that the width of the rectangle is equal 9 in so choice c. is right sure

hope helped
