"James is a huge, black beautiful masculine statue and Gisele is a feminine, gorgeous doll," said Christa Thomas, 36, a black account supervisor in Los Angeles. "I didn't see any kind of racist overtone to it," she said. "I still don't. I think there is such a hypersensitivity to race still in this country." What does Christa Thomas say is the real cause of people’s concern about the Vogue cover?

Christa Thomas is claiming that people are concerned about nothing. Their hypersensitivity about race makes them critical of the cover. Although the cover was not intended to be racist, according to the accountant, people have found a way to perceive it as racist by being somewhat racist themselves. They needlessly connect the representation of James to a racist stereotype of black men. I’m not racist!! Hope this helps!
