the causes can be categorized in three main reasons:

1. economic- this includes factors such as
- the extravagance of the royal family(think Tuileres palace, louis XVI's daily meals, Marie Antoinette's lavish lifestyle)
-the over expenditure of the French government
-the continuous changes of the financial advisor(parallels can be drawn to current south Africa)
-the unfair distribution of taxes.

2. social
-the class systems
-the lifestyle of the peasants and overtaxing

3.political
-france being a monarchy, believing that louis XVI was given divine power

I hope this helps, I did this section last year, and some of the things should be rechecked.
