the way that metaphors and extended metaphors differ is : While a metaphor is limited in length, an extended metaphor is developed over the course of a poem. To put it more simply, metaphor is when the author use a comparison between two different subject/objects in the poem . Extended metaphor happen when the author keep using metaphor over and over again throughout the poem
