It will be 1/4 X 2.88 =0.72$

If we know that 1 pound cost 2.88$ and we want to know how much cost 1/4 of it we just have to divide 2.88$ by 4, so:
2.88:4=0.72$ - its cost 1/4 of pound and its our result
