a research garden is divided into sections, each with an area of 3/4 square yard. An area of 2/3 square foot within each section is planted with beans. What unit rate gives the number of square feet planted with beans per square yard of garden?

The amount of beans per square yard of garden:

= bean area (ft^2) / yard area (yd^2)

=
2/3 / 3/4 =2/3*4/3 \\=8/9

= 0.888....

= 0.89 sq ft/sq yd (to 2 decimal places)
