On April 14th 1912 the Titanic (named Titanic whereas it was told to be unsinkable) sunk to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. The Titanic had struck an iceberg and originally there was no panic whereas the ship came along with 16 hull compartments designed to keep the ship afloat if damaged. However, despite the precautions, the ship still sank due to the compartments sitting unevenly and the water filled one end of the ship first causing the Titanic to face skywards and split in half. Just hours before the Titanic rose out of the water the crew had shot off the emergency flares which had been seen by another ship, but had been mistaken for fireworks. Then at 2:18 AM the ship split in half before drowning into the sea, ending the RMS Titanic.
Hope this helps.
