- 17x = -37 - 7y

10x = 16 + 7y

then now add both equations , to eliminate y

(-17x + 10x) = -37 + 16 + (-7y+7y)

then

-7x = -21 + 0

. x = -21/-7

. x = 3

Now find y = ?

y = (10x - 16)/7

. = (10•3 - 16)/7

. = (30-16)/7

. = 14/7 = 2

Then, answers are

x= 3

y= 2
