The concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere can and does change. Would conditions on Earth be worse if the concentration of gases increased or if it decreased? Use Figure 4-4 to explain your answer.

According to climate scientists the increase in greenhouse gases is negatively impacting the planet and human life by raising the temperature of the planet which is leading to other adverse climate effects. If greenhouse gases were to decrease it could potentially help the situation to elevate some of the pressures currently leading to climate change. However, if greenhouse gases are to increase it will likely have an increasingly negative impact on human life and the homeostasis of the planet.

The concentration of green house gases must be appropriate in order to maintain an optimum temperature on the earth.

More the concentration of gases on earth, the temperature would increase because the green house gases more heat in it.

If the overall green house gas will decrease then also the temperature on the earth will not be adequate for living as it will be too cold.

hence, the balance is maintained only when there is a proper concentration of carbon dioxide in atmosphere.
