To show a direct relation, you must change the numbers to make the denominators the same. For example, 1/4 + 1/2 = 3/4, I got this by multiplying both the numerator and the denominator of 1/2 by 2, changing the overall number to 2/4. Then after the denominators are equal, you can not only tell that 2/4>1/4, but you are able to add the numbers as well (3/4). In this case, you can multiply both the numerator and the denominator of 3/4 by 4, resulting in 12/16. You are then able to conclude that 12/16 is greater than 11/16 (3/4>11/16) {Note that 3/4 and 12/16 are the same number}. I hope this helped you!
