Evidence based on personal experience is called "anecdotal evidence".

The term "anecdotal evidence" is often used in contrast to "scientific evidence". A fact provided as evidence in favor of a hypothesis can be described as anecdotal if the information is not based on facts or a rigorous study. Information obtained from rumors and word of mouth without any other documentation or information is also considered anecdotal.

Although the anecdotal evidence is not valid as proof of the validity of a hypothesis, if it is adequately documented, it may be useful as a guide for future systematic studies on the subject. For example, in medicine, the publication of "case reports" is frequent, in which the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and evolution of a patient are detailed.
