Let'sAnswer:

A. 1/7

B. 3/7

Explanation:

Let's represent the class by sevenths. So there could be any number possible that's divisible by 7. To keep it simple, let's use the number 7 as the total number of students.

4/7 of the students are girls, meaning that in our imaginary total of seven students, 4 of those are girls.

It also says that 1/4 of the girls play the trombone and the other girls play the drums. Since we have 4 girls, then 1 of the girls plays the trombone, and the other 3 play the drums.

Now, we have to combine our data.

If 3/4 of the girls play drums and there are 4 girls, then 3/7 of the class are girls who play drums, and 1/7 of the class are girls who play the trombone.

Keep in mind that the total is unknown, we just used the number 7 to simplify it. In this context, the problem can be done with any number divisible by 7 as the total.
