5x - 9 < 21
5x < 21 + 9
5x < 30
x < 30/5
x < 6...so x is anything less then 6 (but do not count 6)

Answer:

x<6

All real numbers less than
6

Explanation:

we have

5x-9<21

Adds
9 both sides

5x-9+9<21+9

5x<30

Divide by
5 both sides

x<6

the solution is the interval ---------> (-∞,6)

All real numbers less than
6
