first I would divide 15 by 12 and get 1.25--price of each cup
now I would multiply 1.25 by 7 and get 8.75
for 7 cups of soup it is $8.75

Answer: The required cost of 7 cans of soup is $8.75.

Step-by-step explanation: Given that a store sells 12 cans of soup for $15.

We are to find the amount that will cost to buy 7 cups of soup.

We will be using the UNITARY method to solve the problem.

We have

Cost of 12 cans of soup = $15.

So, cost of 1 can of soup will be

\$(15)/(12).

Therefore, the cost of 7 cups of soup is given by

(15)/(12)*7=(35)/(4)=8.75.

Thus, the required cost of 7 cans of soup is $8.75.
