What is the equation of the graphed line in point-slope form?

y + 3 = 2 (x + 3)
y = 2(x + 3)
y + 3 = 2x
y – 3 = 2 (x – 3)

What is the equation of the graphed line in point-slope form? y + 3 = 2 (x + 3) y-example-1

Answer: y + 3 = 2 (x + 3)

To frame equation , we need to find slope

To find slope , we pick two points from the graph

(0,3) and (-3,-3)

slope =(y_2-y_1)/(x_2 - x_1)

slope =(-3-3)/(-3 - 0)=(-6)/(-3) = 2

Slope = 2

The formula for point - slope form is

y - y_1 = m (x - x_1)

Where m is the slope = 2 and point (x1,y1) is (-3,-3)

Plug in the values in the formula

y - (-3) = 2 (x - (-3))

Equation becomes
y + 3= 2 (x +3)
