a-c/x-a = m
x-a/a-c = 1/m
x-a = a-c/m
x = a + a-c/m

(a - c)/(x - a) = m Multiply both sides by (x - a)
a - c = m (x - a) Use the Distributive Property
a - c = mx - ma Add ma to both sides
a - c + ma = mx Divide both sides by m

(a - c + ma)/(m) = x Switch the sides to make it easier to read
x =
(a - c + ma)/(m)
