All you need to do is add them together. 14+(-7)+9=16

Answer:

There is a net gain and the net gain is: 16

Explanation:

Net loss or gain --

If the resultant of the yardage by gaining or losing in the three plays is positive then there is a net gain.

and if the resultant of the yardage by gaining or losing in the three plays is negative then there is a net loss.

The records of the three plays are as follows:

14 , -7 , and 9 .

By adding up all the entries we have:

14-7+9=16

Since the resultant is positive ( Since, 16>0 )

Hence, there is a net gain and the net gain is: 16
