-6 (x - 1) < -14 (x - 5) Use the Distributive Property on both sides
-6x + 6 < -14x + 60 Add 14 x to both sides
8x + 6 < 60 Subtract 6 from both sides
8x < 54 Divide both sides by 8
x < 6
