Which of the following are vertical asymptotes of the function: y=3cot(2 x)-4? 1. x=2pi 2. x=pi/3 3. x=+-pi/2 4. x=pi

Answer: First we have to understand that vertical asymptotes are vertical lines that correspond to the zeroes of the denominator of a rational function. Out of all the options presented above the one’s that are vertical asymptotes of the function y=3cot(2 x)-4 are options 1, 3, and 4.

I hope it helps, Regards.

cot = cos/sin

So the vertical asymptotes would be wherever sin (2x) = 0 , which are :
x = 2pi
x = +- pi/2
x = pi

Hope this helps
