What is meant by the statement, "a thermometer measures its own temperature"?

The thermal contact with something whose temperature we wish to know, energy will flow between the two until their temperatures are equal and thermal equilibrium is established.

when you put a thermometer in your mouth the thermometer become the same temperature as you then start measuring itself so it actually measures itself
