The statements about the chemical combination of atoms to form compounds that is NOT true is
When atoms combine, they are at a lower energy state.
because they are not at lower energy level and other three are correct
so correct option is C and D
hope it helps

Answer : Option D) Compounds form when atoms are less stable in a combined form.

Explanation : When atoms combine they prefer to occupy a stable state. Their stability depends on their outer-most shell electrons. If the outermost valence shell is filled, the atom is said to be stable. If any atom has unfilled electrons in outer most valence shells they are unstable, and will usually try to form a compound by chemical bonds with other atoms to achieve stability.

Atoms are in lower energy state when they combine to form compound, and are stable. They gain or lose electrons in order to achieve stability and form bonds.

So, the statement that atoms when form compounds are less stable in combined form is NOT correct.
