Explain how to use the break apart strategy to find 247 + 358

You would add by columns. 200+300=500. 40+50=90.
8+7=15.
Then add your results together.
500+90+15= 605

If the "break apart stradegy" is the same as what I was taught, you would add the ones place, the tens place, the hundreds place, and so on. This would be 7 + 8 then 40 + 50 and then 200 + 300. Add what you got together. So 247 + 358. You would get 605.
