Answer: The required value of y is -222.

Step-by-step explanation: We are given that y = -252 when x = 84.

We are to find the value of y when x = 74.

Since y and x are directly related, so we have

y\propto x\\\\\Rightarrow y=kx,~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[\textup{where k is the constant of proportionaliy}]

When y = -252 and x = 84, we get

-252=84k\\\\\Rightarrow k=-(252)/(84)\\\\\Rightarrow k=-3.

So,

y=-3x.

Now, when x = 74, then the value of y is given by

y=-3*74=-222.

Thus, the required value of y is -222.

if x =1 y = ?

y = -252/84
y = -3
y = -3*74
y = - 222

we need to calculate the value of y when x =1
we have to divide the value of y by value of x by doing this we can get the value of y is -3 when x=1
when x = 74 we have to multiply the value of x & y (74 *-3)
so the answer is -222
