X² - 6x + 4 = 0

solve and show work.

This won't factor. You can use quadratic formula for this.
Compare it to ax² + bx + c = 0. So a=1, b= -6, c=4.

Use quadratic formula, the answer would be: x= 3 +/- sqt5.
