A bug is moving along the parabola y=x^2 at a rate such that its distance from the origin is increasing at a rate of 1 cm/min. At what rates are the x and y coordinates of the bug increasing when it is at the point (2,4)?

In your question which ask to calculate the rate that the x and y coordinates of the bug increasing when it is at the point(2,4), base on the said problem, and in my own calculation, I would say that the rate would be 8 sqrt of 5/9.
