v+f-2 = e ....[1]

As per the statement:

If a figure has eight vertices and 12 edges

⇒v = 8 and e = 12

Substitute in [1] to solve for f, we have;


8+f-2 = 12


6+f = 12

Subtract 6 from both sides we have;

f = 6

Therefore, 6 faces does it have
