set 3 aside

root -24

break up into two parts:

root 24 and root -1

root -1 always = i

so now we have root 24 and i

now break up root 24

which is root 4 and root 6

root 4 is a perfect square so we can take it out and put it with the 3 we put aside earlier

but when we take it out we have to remember to solve the root

so root 4 becomes 2

we are left with root 6 and i this doesn’t get any smaller

multiply the 3 and 2 we grouped together and we get:

6 root 6i

i’ll write it down too, so see pic
