Maybe because she is afraid? or maybe she likes someone else, or she is hiding something? trying to think of any possible ways this can go because I haven't seen this before.

Carrie won't marry Ed in 'We Were Liars' because she is already married, her father would not approve of their union, and they come from different socio-economic backgrounds.

In the book 'We Were Liars', Carrie won't marry Ed because she is already married to someone else. In the excerpt provided, it is mentioned that Carrie is Jane, the daughter of With-ersteen, and she is a Mormon woman. She believes that her father would not approve of her marrying Ed because he is not a Mormon. Additionally, the mention of the new barn as a possible venue for the wedding suggests that Carrie and Ed come from different socio-economic backgrounds, which might be another reason why they cannot marry. The novel addresses themes of love, loss, and the power of memory. Therefore, understanding these themes is crucial to discussing character motivations and actions within the narrative.
